What are dentures?

After we discuss your options and goals, Dr. Stacey begins the dentures process by taking impressions of your mouth. We then send your distinctive impressions to a trusted and licensed denturist to fabricate your final prosthetic.
Once the denturist completes your custom-made appliance, we schedule another appointment to check its fit and feel. If necessary, Dr. Stacey can make minor adjustments to make the appliance feel more stable and comfortable.
After the fitting, patients are free to leave our office with their new, beautifully lifelike dentures!
How do I take care of my new dentures?
Patients with removable dentures should take them out nightly for cleaning and soaking. The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends using a soft-bristled toothbrush and gentle cleansers to sanitize the appliance. The ADA also suggests storing dentures in room-temperature (never hot!) water when not in use.
However, patients with implant-supported dentures do not need much more than regular oral hygiene practices (like brushing and flossing) to keep their appliance looking and feeling great.
Whether removable or permanent, Dr. Stacey recommends that patients visit our Villa Rica dental center every six months to check the performance of their dentures. With proactive care and preventive maintenance, patients may be able to enjoy their custom-made appliances for more than 10 years!
